MTD Deadline Calendar for Landlords

Making Tax Digital gives landlords a date to remember every few months. Put them all in the calendar you already use, with a reminder a week before and the day before. Free, no sign-up, no email.

Step 1: Pick your calendar

Your rent plus any self-employed income was over £50,000 in the 2024 to 2025 tax year.

Next date: Saturday 7 November 2026.

Not sure which? Read who is in MTD and when or use HMRC's checker.

Step 2: Add it

Subscribing means your calendar stays up to date. If HMRC ever moves a date, it changes in your calendar by itself.

  • iPhone or iPad: tap Add to Apple Calendar, then Subscribe.
  • Mac:click Add to Apple Calendar. In the window that opens, untick "Alerts" under Remove so you keep the reminders.
  • Google: tap Add to Google Calendar, then Add. If your phone opens the app without asking, try once on a computer. Google ignores reminders inside subscribed calendars, so set a notification for this calendar in Google Calendar settings.
  • Outlook: tap Add to Outlook, then Import or Subscribe.

Good to know

Weekend deadlines. Several dates fall on a weekend, including Saturday 7 November 2026. HMRC accepts updates up to and including the deadline day, and most software can send on any day. If your accountant sends yours, check their cut-off.

Standard or calendar periods. Whichever you chose, the deadlines are the same.

Each update covers the year so far. Every quarterly update runs from 6 April to the end of the latest period. It's a summary of totals, not a tax return.

Penalties. For April 2026 joiners, HMRC won't give penalty points for late quarterly updates in 2026 to 2027, but every update still has to be sent. From 2027 to 2028, each late update earns a point and four points means a £200 penalty.

Paying tax hasn't changed. Payments are still due on 31 January and, if you make payments on account, 31 July.

What's in each reminder

Each date comes with a short note on what's due, a reminder a week before and the day before, and a link to our free one-page checklist of what to gather from your rentals.

Made by landlords

We're Vaibhav and Iwona, UK landlords. We made this because we wanted the dates where we already look every day. Padlord keeps the rent, costs and certificate dates for each property in one place. It doesn't send your updates to HMRC; you'll still need HMRC-recognised software or your accountant for that.

Dates follow GOV.UK guidance as published on 19 October 2026 for landlords in Making Tax Digital for Income Tax. This is general information, not tax advice. Check anything that matters to you on GOV.UK or with your accountant.

Questions landlords ask

Straight answers to the questions behind this calculator. The Padlord blog goes deeper on every topic here.

Is this an official HMRC calendar?

No. It's a free calendar from Padlord. Every date was checked against GOV.UK on 19 October 2026, and each reminder links to the GOV.UK page it came from.

Can you see my calendar?

No. Your calendar app simply fetches our public file now and then. We can't see or change anything in your calendar. We count how often the file is fetched and which kind of calendar app asked (Apple, Google, Outlook), and nothing personal.

Will it remind me?

Apple Calendar and Outlook use the reminders built into each date. Google Calendar ignores them for subscribed calendars, so set a notification for this calendar in your Google Calendar settings (it takes a few seconds).

I co-own a property. Does this change?

The dates are the same. Whether you're in depends on your own share of the rent. Our guide to who's in and when explains it.

How do I remove it?

Delete or unsubscribe from the calendar in your calendar app, like any other. Nothing else to cancel.

Does Padlord send my updates to HMRC?

No. Padlord helps you keep the numbers for each property tidy. Sending updates needs HMRC-recognised software or your accountant.
